Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering

Founded in 1980, the Department of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering is one of the earliest-establised departments in HFU, and one of the departments that cooperates with German universities of applied sciences.

The department consists of four undergraduate specialties, i.e., Electronic Information Engineering(national-level characteristic specialty), Automation, Communication Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering(Sino-German 2+3), with over 1,470 enrolled students.

With an employment of 52, there are 44 full-time teachers including 17 professors and associate professors. And seven domestic or overseas visiting professors are invited to serve in this department. The teachers have gratifying achievements in education during the past years. Three teachers won the honor of Provincial New Teaching Stars and one is honored as Provincial Outstanding Teacher.

The department has 20 specialized laboratories such as Principles of Microcomputer, Principle of Automatic Control, System Simulation, Electrical Machinery & Towage, Power Electronics Technology and PLC, and other centers, such as GE.Fanuc Automation Systems Application Training Center, Communications Engineering Training Center, PCB Platemaking and Testing Center, SMT Engineering Training Center, and the value of the equipment and instruments totals about RMB 30 million. Furthermore, Collaborative Innovation Center has been built for Modern Electronic Control & Testing and more than 20 education practice bases has been established.

In recent years, the department is undertaking many teaching and scientific research projects sponsored by the state, Anhui Province, Provincial Education Department or the university.Over 230 academic papers have been published, among which more than 70 papers are published in core journals.

Since 2005, the students have participated in many professional competitions, such as National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, “Freescale” National College Students Smart Car Competition, “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Works Competition, National College Students“Siemens Challenge Cup” for Industry Automation, Practice Innovation Work Selection of National Undergraduate Electronic Information, Anhui Province Undergraduate Engineering Training Comprehensive Ability Competition, etc.. All together, the students won one international award, two national grand prizes, 13 first prizes, 30 second prizes, 20 third prizes, and other 259 awards in East China or in Anhui Province.
